Things I’ve Left in 2022

Congrats on making it to 2023! Like the past few years, 2022 has had its ups and downs for many of us.

But we’re here!

Ready to take on the new year and achieve more than we did before because life is about growth and bettering ourselves, right?

So with that being said, I wanted to put together a list of some of the things I’m leaving I left in 2022! The first couple weeks of January will be comfortable because that motivational energy is still lingering in the air. However, I tend to slip back into old habits by the end of the month. But not this time.

I’ve written this ‘list’ to hold myself accountable and aim to revisit this at the start of next year to see if what I set out to be achievable was achieved throughout 2023.

If I wasn’t able to, that’s fine, we’ll go again. And if you related to anything I listed, even better!

So let’s see what can be left behind in 2022 below:

Procrastination – My one true weakness. There are days, weeks and months that I would happily live in my mind than deal with my reality. Because some days, weeks and months are too stressful to take in! And this UK weather doesn’t help with my mood.

So if I can find a sweet spot in my mind that isn’t clogged with thoughts or bullet points of things I need to do, I’ll settle there for a while until I’m ready to take on actual responsibilities.

I see procrastination as good and bad. Yes, I may be avoiding commitments, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get them done. I discovered that I prefer to work under pressure. For example, if I have a few days to complete a work deadline, I’d rather leave it to the last day than stretch it out over those few days unless it’s unavoidable.

Pressure makes diamonds, as they say, so I found that to get the best out of me, I need some procrastination, as I know I will always get the job done in time. It’s kind of like a break. The right amount, and you’re ready to keep going. But too much, and you feel demotivated and lazy.

I guess I need to work on balancing how I procrastinate rather than retreating to my comfort zone. We’ll see by December what I discovered to make this work, and if you have any techniques, let me know!

Self-doubt – How can we, our number one fans, not believe in ourselves?! It’s true; not every day is our best day. I wish it was that easy to be happy and optimistic about the future, but some days we are low, down, anxious and just not shining as brightly.

We begin to doubt how far we’ve come and why we’re in the position we’re in and feel regret. And that’s one of the worst feelings, especially when other areas of our lives seem to align.

It sucks when we don’t believe in ourselves because we may see how other people are thriving on social media and start to compare. Or feel like we could have reached all our goals for the previous year. And as a result, unnecessary weight is added to our shoulders.

If you ever feel like you doubt yourself, whether in your career, health journey or relationships, remember how you felt at the start of it. You had nothing to lose, and you still don’t, to an extent! Your mind can be a great place to escape, but it can also be toxic if you’re not careful.

It’s easy to forget all the hard work you put in to be where you are today, and you don’t need that negativity! So writing down daily reminders and positive affirmations of how great you are can help. And speaking these positive mantras out loud will turn manifestations into existence. So try not to let a few hurdles, obstacles or roadblocks stop you from excelling!

Holding back – Sometimes, I feel like I could have said something at the moment, but I’m anxious about how another person might react. Moving forward, how someone else responds is not my responsibility. Continuing to work on my communication and not holding back on my feelings will help. While remembering to speak my mind and respecting other opinions along the way will make holding back a thing of the past.

The overthinker in me may struggle with this one. But I understand I don’t have to live in my shell (my mind) when I can let it out at the moment. And I hope you’re able to as well!

2023. I’m looking forward to these months with you because I know we will work together to succeed in whatever trials are ahead.

What are some things you’ve left or are planning to leave in 2022?
